Competence For Productivity In The Workplace

Competence is the ability to carry out your work efficiently and successfully.

Today, competence is needed in the workplace. It helps you build credibility, stay effective, increase confidence, and enhance personal growth.
Whatever be the reason for your lack of competence, know that you can overcome it by seeking training and ways to develop yourself. Take courses, attend conferences - could be online or in-person. Have a clear goal of what you want to achieve, and what your desired result is. Knowing that as you stay persistent, you're halfway there.

Practice! Practice!! Practice!!! Whatever you want to be good at, you have to take the time to practice. Hone your skills, and develop your craft. As you practice, also apply those skills you've gained, and you're working on.

Yes, everyone has weaknesses, but do not let them limit you. Focus on your strengths instead to build confidence and momentum.

Build synergy with teams. Surround yourself with positive and smart people developing a growth mindset.

In the information age, competent people with the right set of skills needed in the workplace and with the right intelligent mindsets will thrive. Here's why!

They will be able to analyze information, evaluate, and make informed decisions.

Creativity will be at a high. They will be at the fore front of innovation, and find new solutions to today's challenges.

Adaptability won't be an issue, as they will respond to immediate changes in their industry and environment.

They will have a high EQ, good problem solving skills, resilience to be able to bounce back from setbacks, learn from failures, and persevere in hard times.

Are Passion And Skill The Same? Here's What You Should Know

Passion can drive motivation, as you get to improve that which you're doing. And there is an intense enthusiasm for what you do.

However, skill is as a result of practice, training, and experience. And can be applied to achieve specific tasks.
The benefit of having passion is that it can lead to long-term success and profitability, while skill can be used for the short term with gigs, to solve specific tasks, and achieve results.

Today's job market demands certain skills. There are soft skills, and there are hard skills.

What are soft skills?

Soft skills are non-technical skills that are valuable in the workplace, affecting how you interact with colleagues and solve problems.

Some examples include: problem solving and critical thinking skills, time management and organization, EQ and empathy, active listening and feedback, adaptability and flexibility, communication skills amongst others.

Hard skills

Hard skills on the other hand, are related to specific technical knowledge or abilities, gained through training, education or work experience.

Some examples of hard skills include: accounting, networking, coding, graphic design, software proficiency amongst others.

While skill may be useful and needed as you progress, passion will still be required for sustainability.

Here's what to do to boost your passion: 

Know your why. Why it is you're doing what you're doing. Set smart goals to achieve something new and significant.

Surround yourself with smart people who are accelerating their careers, feed on smart resources that inspire and motivate you. Learn from mentors, role models, and experiences.

Finally

On your journey, avoid complacency, knowing that there is still a lot to learn, and a lot to improve.

Avoid Going By The Wrong Information Online

People share information online for various reasons.

It can be for promotion purposes, self-expression, connection or personal growth.

Howbeit, sharing the wrong knowledge displays a lack of critical thinking, can be misleading and may be doing more harm than good.
As you get information online, do well to use your discretion wisely inorder to be on the right track.
